The Swiss Guard spreads Swiss values that are important to us: integrity, loyalty, a sense of duty. It does a great deal for the international reputation of our country. Supporting it is a wonderful task.
I am committed to raising funds for the new barracks in order to provide the guardsmen with accommodation that meets modern standards, thus helping to ensure that the security of the pontiff will continue to be guaranteed by the Swiss Guard.
The Swiss Guard has been closely associated with the history of the Vatican since 1506. One of my tasks on the Board of the Foundation is to make all the circles interested in our project even more aware of the cultural uniqueness and historical significance of the papal residence.
The motivation for my engagement with the Board of the Foundation comes from how my Catholic Swiss-Italian upbringing has shaped me and from my work as an assistant for Roman law and church law at the University of Basel. I also feel passionately about the opportunity to be involved in construction in a historical setting.
I support the Swiss Guard because it honors Switzerland's tradition of deployment and service.
I support the Pontifical Swiss Guard because I am proud of the guardsmen, who are excellent ambassadors for our country and an important bridge between our values, the Guard’s tradition, and modern life.
