With the aim of bringing together people who are particularly close to and connected with the Pontifical Swiss Guard, the Pontifical Swiss Guard Support Association "Friends of the Swiss Guard" was founded in 2024. Thanks to donations, the Pontifical Swiss Guard can be supported in all respects. The friends are regularly informed about what is happening in the Pontifical Swiss Guard and about the activities of the association.
Activity
The contributions are used for the implementation of plans and projects in support of the Pontifical Swiss Guard or for the achievement of the association's purpose. Friends are invited to cultural events, liturgical celebrations, pilgrimages and events in Switzerland. Other events take place at regular intervals in Rome and abroad.
Purpose of the association
The Association of Friends of the Pontifical Swiss Guard aims to provide material, social and financial support to the Pontifical Swiss Guard and its guards. It promotes and cultivates Christian values and social doctrine in Switzerland and around the world. The association is exclusively non-profit. The association fulfils its purpose as follows:
- it promotes communion between the Pontifical Swiss Guard and interested organizations and individuals;
- implements plans and projects for the achievement of its goal;
- enables small donors to participate in the projects of the Pontifical Swiss Guard;
- organizes events for the promotion of Christian values and social doctrine;
- represents the interests of the Pontifical Swiss Guard vis-à-vis the public.
The organization of the association
The board of directors of the association is composed of Davide Francesco Serrago, president, Denis von Sury d'Asprémont, vice president, Stéphane Barbier-Mueller, vice president, Guido Graf, Carlo Schlatter and Christoph Graf, commander of the Pontifical Swiss Guard, as assessors. The external audit is guaranteed by UNIFID, Geneva.
